Comics are living, thriving and flourishing on the net. There are comics for everyone’s taste and preferences.

The easiest way to hopefully find your "cup of tea" is to browse some of the Comic-strip portals out there. But again (will probably stop saying this after a while) the net is vast and filled whit mostly useless stuff so the hunt can be long and hard.

Suspicious E-Mail's and Sites

Ever got an e-mail that you weren't quite sure actually came from your bank asking for sensitive data. Most likely you could determine that the mail didn't come form them. Banks should have the common sense to send out letters (snail mail) when big things happens.
Or are there some web-site you find doubtful and would like some way to check some more?

At the Websense Security Labs - Alerts page you can search the archive for among others known Malicious Web Pages and Phishing Alerts. A quick search there, when in doubt, could confirm your worst fear; or if no result found use your common sense. Just because it isn't in their archive don't necessarily mean it is safe; it could be unknown.

CNN How Low Can You Go

After 9-11 CNN has been on steadily roll downhill. "More commercials - less news - bow to the ruling party - make money - shut up" seem to have become their new guideline. They weren't great to begin whit, but they have gone from Good to Crap.
And what is the deal whit the mobile crap. Can't a news report go by without the reporter pleading for people to sign up so CNN would make money? These days it apparently can’t.

Live news conferences are simply cut off and ignored because they have to, you guessed right, plead for your money, send world weather, followed by some golf.

One thing CNN should have is; they are no Fox News; those people seriously lack the understanding of "fair and balanced news".

Flesh & Blood

A brilliant comedy set in medieval times. The high moral standards are in general totally absent form the characters; as for the moderate moral standards. The Black-Plague is thriving, and great Kings rule the land by the hand of mercenaries; a truly enjoyable film.

Why there aren’t more films like this is understandable, but not excusable. Moral should never stand in the way of art.

Earth From Space Through Google's Eyes

Google's maps and therein their satellite image option has opened up for some sightseeing from space. The database of images form space is increasing, but there is so much land to cover that it might take some time.

While we wait for all land to be covered, we can go on sightseeing of what’s there. To save time by having to manually look through it all by yourselves; why not make use of those who happen to spot something.

Those Good Old Encyclopaedias

I don't know if you have noticed, but if you look up a "controversial topic" in an old encyclopaedia; and compare it whit any modern you'll soon notice the difference.

I'm not referring to the smoother glossy paper, or those colour pictures, but rather what information the text yields. Today we're spared for the information that might be used to do harm. We will be informed that; Yes there exists plants that are poisonous so be careful. Our Grand and Great-grand fathers also were told what plants those were.

I might be putting it at an extreme, but the walk there is not long away.

Another "fun" note:
In an encyclopaedia from 1898-1903 the auto-mobiles (today: car) future was predicted to lean towards electric cars. The reason: both the petrol and alcohol driven cars were noisy and produced ill smelling fumes.

Saving the Rainforest and More

There are some sites out there that seam to be a good place to stop by every day, and spend a good two minutes doing your little part.

These sites by clicking on a button (no need to actually visit sponsors) donate a small amount of food; preserve a small part of rainforest, and more.

Many mouse’s pissing in the sea at the same time might result in a little rise ocean level in the end. It won't hurt anyone (I hope).

A tribute to Laika

I just remembered Laika for no apparent reason, and thought a little tribute was in order. This brave dog that breached the border of the final frontier; leading the way for man to follow.

Laikas tale is a tale of awe and sorrow; a tale to remember.

Laika was the first living creature to orbit space. A good-natured, husky-mix stray from the streets of Moscow, thought to be around three years old, she was launched from Earth on November 3, 1957. Her real name was Kudryavka ("Little Curly"), "laika" being the Russian word for "barker." Most of the world just called her "Muttnik."
